CBD Oils: Full Spectrum
Full spectrum: what is it? Here's the short answer: it's the interaction between every cannabinoid, from CBC, CBG, CBN, and beyond. When you get the full spectrum, you don't just get CBD - you get all the other good stuff as well. Read more below.

Different cannabinoids? So what?
As previously mentioned, different cannabinoids bind to different receptors in the endocannabinoid system (ECS). These each have different functions and help regulate different systems. But if you get all cannabinoids in full spectrum, why are individual cannabinoid profiles so important - don't they work together? Yes, but it's a little more complex than that.
Eclipse offers two proprietary blends of full spectrum. One of those contains more CBC and CBG to help manage anxiety. The other contains more CBN to aid sleep. Both are full spectrum products. However, with certain extraction and refinement techniques, it is possible to alter cannabinoid composition so that there is more of one cannabinoid than another. A molecular composition will have a different outcome depending on the variables that were altered.
Pretend you have one bag, and several types of candies to fill the bag with: you can choose to have more sour belts than peppermints, or have more peppermints than sour belts, but less than jellybeans. They still all work together to make a diverse assorted bag of candy, but the composition will have a different effect depending on the amount of each: having more sour belts will make your bag more sour, while having more peppermints would make it more minty. Overall, however, the bag of candy is still sweet. This is an oversimplified example, but it's the basics of why cannabinoid profiles are so important.
Why choose full spectrum?
Full spectrum and isolate have similar benefits: they both assist with pain management, and they both provide a certain amount of anxiety relief. However, they are also vastly different in terms of how potent the relieving effects are, and in various other ways.
While cannabidiol (CBD) is a powerful cannabinoid on its own, it's even more potent when synergystically working with the other hemp cannabinoids. The effects are usually more physically noticeable, and many people swear that it's a night and day difference from isolate. In addition, modifying the cannabinoid profile of a certain batch of full spectrum cbd can have unique results - something that can't be done with isolate, because there's only one cannabinoid. Eclipse has a Full Spectrum Nighttime product, but not an Isolate Nighttime product for this very reason - it's simply not possible.
Full spectrum has an insignificant, but still present, amount of THC. It also contains certain deltas that activate in sunlight and become THC, leading to a risk of a false positive on a drug test. It is important to request lab test results, especially in regards to full spectrum, to ensure that the THC levels are below the legal limit.
Yes, full spectrum products will contain THC - but this is not as much cause for alarm as you think. THC, either on its own or in a high concentration, is what produces the psychoactive effect, or the 'high'. CBD, when combined with THC, serves as a THC regulator and mitigates its effects. Because full spectrum oils are mostly other cannabinoids besides THC, it is extremely unlikely that you would have a psychoactive reaction while using full spectrum products, and also highly unlikely for you to get a false positive on a drug test. If this happens, the full spectrum was likely:
- Never tested for compliance below the legal limit
- Exposed to prolonged sunlight and UV rays
Storage is vital when it comes to full spectrum products: you can read more on storage here.
Contrary to many people's perception, THC is not a bad compound and is just as vital to the endocannabinoid system as CBD.
Always ask for lab results
The CBD market contains an overwhelmingly large selection of brands to choose from. Most of these brands do their due diligence and truly want to help others find natural remedies. However, there are also those who seek to take advantage of the infantile nature of the industry. The best advice for finding a CBD product that’s perfect for you is to first make sure everything has lab results readily available.
Eclipse has a QR code printed on every single label and box that will take you directly to our batch results. Not all CBD is created equal, and some hemp sources may contain more THC than others. Lab results don’t just show whether or not a product truly has zero THC: they also ensure potency, to make sure you’re getting what you paid for, and purity, to ensure there are no pesticides, microbials or other harmful residual substances.
Storage & More
Storing your full spectrum CBD tincture should be a priority, moreso than with other products. This is because when full spectrum CBD tinctures aren't stored properly, it can lead to unpredictable interactions and alter the molecular composition of the tincture.
Farm Bill compliant full spectrum contains a small amount (>0.3%) of THC, below the legal limit, but enough to where leaving it exposed to pure sunlight could potentially lead to testing positive on a drug test. This is because full spectrum CBD contains Delta-9 compounds that, when exposed to direct sunlight, activate to turn into THC. This leads to a higher concentration of THC in the tincture than initially present, and therefore, a stronger likelihood of testing positive on a drug test.
Direct sunlight can also decrease the potency of your tincture by weakening the cannabinoids. CBD should always be in opaque or very darkly tinted bottles: if it isn't, chances are the CBD in that product has already degraded by virtue of being constantly exposed to UV light.
Below are steps you can take to maintain the integrity of your full spectrum tincture and ensure optimal use.
- Store in a cool, dry place, preferably between 4-25°C (40-77°F). Avoid heat above 30°C (85°F). Store bottle upright to preserve quality.
- Make sure storage container or bottle is air-tight to preserve quality.
- Read all warnings and directions before use. For best dosing reference, keep the box.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Consult your healthcare professional prior to use of this product.
- DO NOT VAPE - this is not a vapable product.
